Tekala village is located at about 10 km from Lok Biradari Prakalp. We offered to excavate a lake after a request from the villagers. But, just like our other lake projects, we asked for an agreement from Gramsabha which should have following commitments.
- No Alcohol
- No Tobacco
- Save Trees
- Educate each child
- No hunting and save wild animals
- Dispute free village
On receipt of the agreement, the work started in February 2018. The budget was approximately Rs. 9 lakh. One lakh rupees were collected from the village so they get a sense of ownership. It took around 15-20 days for completion.
The lake dimensions are 100 x 50 meters and it's 3 meters deep.
We are also thinking of fish farming on commercial level. Fish seed will be provided to start a new business for village.
