Kumarguda

Kumarguda village is located at about 3 km from Lok Biradari Prakalp. We offered to excavate a lake after a request from the villagers. But, just like our other lake projects, we asked for an agreement from Gramsabha which should have following commitments.

1. No Alcohol
2. No Tobacco
3. Save Trees
4. Educate each child
5. No hunting and save wild animals
6. Dispute free village

On receipt of the agreement, the work started in February 2017. The budget was approximately Rs. 9 lakh. One lakh rupees were collected from the village so they get a sense of ownership. It took around 15-20 days for completion.

The lake dimensions are 100 x 50 meters and it's 3 meters deep.

We have also started fish farming on commercial level. Fish seed is provided to start a new business for village.

Farmers have started cultivating second crops like mung, fenugreek, chilli and maize along with traditional paddy cultivation on lake water. The dream about utilization of lake water for farming that Lok Biradari Prakalp has seen, is coming true.
