Kodape village is located at about 14 km from Lok Biradari Prakalp. We offered to excavate a lake after a request from the villagers. But, just like our other lake projects, we asked for an agreement from Gramsabha which should have following commitments.
- No Alcohol
- No Tobacco
- Save Trees
- Educate each child
- No hunting and save wild animals
- Dispute free village
On receipt of the agreement, the work started in May 2018. The budget was approximately Rs. 5 lakh. One lakh rupees were collected from the village so they get a sense of ownership. It took about a month for completion.
The lake dimensions are 50 x 50 meters and it's 3 meters deep. A mechanism namely "Waste Wear" will be introduced to take care of excess water in case of heavy rains.
We are also thinking of fish farming on commercial level. Fish seed will be provided to start a new business for village.
